SHEELENE GUMBS
Taekwondo Instructor

Sheelene Gumbs, is presently the Taekwondo Instructor at the Mon Bijou Taekwondo Club. Ms. Gumbs started doing Martial Arts 24 years ago, and has done, Kung Fu, Akido,  Ninjutsu, and Taekwondo.  She started Taekwondo with St. Croix Martial Arts under the instruction of Mr. Evworth Charles, 6th dan. She is presently a 3rd dan in Taekwondo under the World Taekwondo Federation, through Kukkiwon Taekwondo is a Korean Art and basically means "to strike or break with foot". It combines combat techniques, exercise, self-defense and sport, In 1989, Taekwondo was the world's most popular martial art Gyeorugi  a type of sparring, and has been an Olympic event since 2000. One of only two martial arts admitted into the Olympics.

 Ms. Gumbs is The President of the Virgin Islands Taekwondo Federation, Chair of the Virgin Islands Women in Sport Commission, Member of the Women’s Committee of the World Taekwondo Federation, the Caribbean Taekwondo Federation, Pan American Taekwondo Union, Institute on the Scientific Studies of Taekwondo and The Virgin Islands Olympic Committee.

STEPHEN CHAPMAN
Computer/Graphic Design Instructor

Stephen Chapman is the Graphic Design instructor at the Mon Bijou Youth Center. He is an educator, branding consultant, and entrepreneur based in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Stephen’s journey from unpaid intern to innovator & art advocate, began in 2006 when he became a design intern for Mama Saba Designs, a graphic design subsidiary of I Grade Records LLC. In 2007 he earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Design, and built his experience as a toy and product designer for Swimways Corporation and 5 Forty Design, Inc.

After freelancing for corporate and private design firms in the United States, Stephen returned to St. Croix in 2009 to support his beloved Caribbean people. ARTKAST® was launched in 2010, becoming the first brand identity firm in the Virgin Islands. Stephen has developed successful design strategies for various clients including:

Laced Legacy, St. Croix Central High School, Stylee Band, Junior P, Tru Vibez Muzik, UVI Nursing Assoc., Riddims, Frazer Autostudio, Choices Basketball Assoc., Youth Art Month, YGT Forever, and new recording artists China Black and K-FAKTOR.

Stephen currently serves as a co-chair for an accreditation subcommitte for St. Croix Central High School, developing their philosophy and mission. He recently used his creative strategies to refresh Central High’s brand identity including their logo, stationary, business papers, and student handbook. Stephen aspires to implement creative problem solving into the school curriculum, and encourage Caribbean youth to become designers, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists. www.ARTKAST.com


LLOYD JACOBS, JR.
Music Instructor

Lloyd Jacobs, Jr. (aka Tiger, Lloydee, Shange) was born June 22, 1972 on the island of St. Croix.  Lloyd started his early education at the Juanita Gardine Elementary School, soon after he relocated to the western part of the islands and attended the Alexander Henderson Elementary School where he made new friends and fell madly in love with baseball and music.  Lloydee as he was affectionately called soon excelled in sports and became one of the best pitchers in little league on the island.    Tiger continued his secondary education at the Elena Christian Jr. High School where baseball took a back seat and music became his first love.  He began playing the keyboard and slowly began singing.  After graduating from high school, Tiger played in his first band called TENSION BAND. He played keyboard and sang lead vocals.  After graduating from St. John's University (in criminal justice) a few years later he formed the DIGITAL BAND, which is an active band playing sweet enjoyable music around the Virgin Islands and the United States for the past twenty (20) years.

NATALIE MOOREHEAD
Basic Art Instructor

Natalie Moorehead was born in Bronx, New York to Crucian parents Elroy and Ianthe Moorehead. Natalie has attended the Alfredo Andrews Elementary, John H. Woodson Jr. High and a graduate of the St. Croix Central High school and a proud Carib. Natalie grew up in the Frangi Pani area and still resides in the family home. She is currently pursuing a degree at Penn Foster University. 

Natalie resided in Georgia and North Carolina for over 12 years. Upon her return to St. Croix, she decided to volunteer her time to various non-profit organizations such as the Mon Bijou Community Center where she is currently teaching basic art and painting to the youths at the center. 

Natalie can be very stern when necessary; however she is a joker at heart and tries to keep a smile on everyone’s face.



SONSIREZ ROBLES
Zumba Instructor

Hi, I'm Sonsirez Robles and I love teaching Zumba classes. The reason is simple: Every class feels like a party! Come join me and you\ll see what I mean. You don\t even have to know how to dance. Just move your body and follow my lead. It\s easy! Come try it, I guarantee you will have a blast! I look forward to meeting you!

My classes are at Fort Frederik Museum and The Mon Bijou Community Center, in
St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.


NARDJESKA SERRANT
Fashion & Photography Instructor

Nardjeska Serrant is a freelance photographer who resides in the state of Pennsylvania. She is now pursuing a bachelor's degree in Criminal justice and wishes to have a job in the Dept of Homeland Security in the near future. Apart from that, Nardjeska Loves the fashion world and is a model. She participated in a few fashion shows before & she is also a proud member of the International House of Fedora Ladies(IHOF). 

Her mission in life :
Be Beautiful, Feel beautiful & Act Beautiful. Her Photography(NXN) is all about Embracing beauty from within. She believes her purpose is  to change perspective of beauty in today's world with all kinds of people. NxN Photography does not discriminate & welcomes every size & shape. 

Nardjeska is the Photographer for our program and she has been interested in photography for about two years. Nardjeska is looking forward in working with the youths because she strongly believes that they are the answers to our questions for a better tomorrow!
