GRAPHIC DESIGN & ENTREPRENEURSHIP 2015

This 10 week course introduces teens and young adults to the basics of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software using Mac OS X. Students practice using research, brainstorming, type, and imagery to develop and manufacture t-shirt designs for the YGT Forever clothing line (YGTFOREVER.COM). Students also learn how to research careers, write a resume, budget their income, and practice basic financial literacy skills. Additionally, students learn how to set up a Sony HD Digital Video Recorder (assembly, tapes, recording settings) and practice maneuvering the camera, recording videos, and adding transitions and text using iMovie Software. Using online training websites advanced students can take professional classes in 3D Animation, Music Production, Business, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Graphic Design, Computer Programming, Education, IT, Marketing, Photography, Videography, Production, and Web Design. Students earn an official certificate after completing course requirements. Participating students are required to volunteer at the Mon Bijou Youth Center and share their knowledge with younger students.

SUMMER YOUTH WORKSHOP 2014

This 4 week course introduces 14-15 year olds to the basics of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator software using Mac OS X. Students practice using research, brainstorming, type, and imagery to develop concepts for the YGT Forever clothing line (YGTFOREVER.COM). Students also learn how to research careers online, write a resume, budget their income, and practice basic financial literacy skills. Advanced students gain real world experience by recording our annual "Young Gifted and Talented Entertainment Showcase" using a Sony HD Digital Video Recorder. This program is sponsored by the Virgin Islands Department of Labor and is designed to teach students 21st Century career skills (problem solving, collaboration, creativity, professionalism).

Students practice using research, brainstorming, type, and imagery to communicate ideas. Students also learn how to research careers online, how to write a resume, and how to budget their income. This program is sponsored by the Virgin Islands Department of Labor and is Designed to teach students 21st Century career skills (problem solving, collaboration, creativity, professionalism).


Dates: July 2-July 27th 2012, Monday-Thursday 8:00-12:00 PM

PHOTOSHOP BASICS 2

This 4 week course will expand student proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, and build design skills. Students advance their creative workflow on the computer and experiment with photo correction, retouching, digital painting techniques and typography.

Dates: May 12-June 2nd 2012,  Saturdays 3:00-5:00 PM

PHOTOSHOP BASICS

This 6 week course will focus on basic software proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, as well as building design skills, and exploring creative careers. Students learn the creative workflow on the computer including photo correction and retouching, using selection tools, applying filters, and organizing images.

Dates: Feb 25-March 31st 2012,  Saturdays 3:00-5:00 PM


INTRO TO GRAPHIC DESIGN

This class introduces students to the basics of visual communication and Photoshop software. Students practice using research, brainstorming, type, and imagery to communicate ideas. Designed to motivate students to excel in school by exposing them to graphic design and other creative careers, complementing their academics with applied skills that will prepare them for 21st Century learning (problem solving, collaboration, creativity, professionalism).
