MON BIJOU YOUTH CENTER is a non-profit community organization, that educates and enriches under served youth and young adults. Located at 207 Mon Bijou, St. Croix, It has been in existence since 1975 and is managed through donations from the officers and sometimes grants. The center provides year- round programs for children from the neighborhood and around the island. By exposing youth to various opportunities, students are motivated to excel in school, and pursue their dreams through higher education, and learn the importance of giving back to the community. We provide beginning to advanced courses in Taekwondo, Graphic Design, Photography, Videography, and Music Production in addition to after school tutoring, balancing the creative & academic talents of our students. Most of our activities are free and the instructors and members volunteer their time. Our motto is “Bringing The Community Together One Piece At A Time”. We are dedicated to promoting peace among children/teenagers through various activities and educational programs while connecting them to the community. The Center also has a Teen Club by the name of TAP (Teens About Peace) that meets every Friday at 6:00pm at the Center. The membership is free and teens between the ages of 12-17 are welcomed to join and bring their innovative ideas. TAP has expanded into TAP Entertainment allowing teens to develop their talents in singing, modeling, music, and event production. Additionally, we introduced the youth clothing line YGT Forever. Designs are produced by students and volunteers of the Mon Bijou Youth Center and t-shirt sales help support graphic design and career training through summer and after school programs. The Center also invites students from all high schools to earn their community service hours by volunteering at the center. Thanks to the Community-Development Block Grant the center is currently expanding with an additional building. The new facilities are located across the street from the current center and will come complete with a garden, a kitchen and hall space that will be available for rentals, a music production and recording studio for children and teens to use as well as adult bands, and a full scale basketball court. Everyone is welcomed at the center. We look forward for your support.
